Mono Special Interest Group

Co-ordinator: Graham Kay – 0403 199 713 grahambkay@gmail.com

Next meeting:  8:00 pm on August 13, 2019. It is important that you let Graham know if you would like to attend.

The following format for that meeting:

  1. Bring along 2 or 3 photos in raw format and unprocessed.
  2. You are encouraged to take new photos with monochrome output in mind, not merely existing photos on your PC that might look good in monochrome.
  3. We will then collectively process the photos as a group. Not necessarily to just one result.
  4. Processing to be done with a combination of Lightroom and/or Nik.

March 26th, 2019 – Inaugural Meeting

The inaugural meeting of the “B&W SIG” was held. Present: Judy, Margaret, Arthur, John, Pam, Graham, Liesel

The group decided that we would not have separate outings but incorporate them into the Scenic SIG outings. It would be convenient for Mono SIG members to communicate to one another Monochrome opportunities when on a Scenic SIG outing.

It was decided to have meetings at intervals of around 6-8 weeks. At those meetings we would do one or all of the following.

a) Bring along prints/DPI’s for discussion and critique. Any prints should be accompanied by a DPI.

b) On occasions agree on a general theme for photos for the following meetings.

c) On occasions we would set up a PC with Lightroom or similar and share suggested processing techniques including “Silver Effects Pro”. d) Group education and discussion of the monochrome/B&W options within Lightroom/ACR.

e) Any other activity that may be determined from time to time.
